After India’s defeat, Gautam Gambhir lashes out at Babar Azam. India defeated Pakistan by seven wickets on October 14.
Former Indian hitter Gautam Gambhir lashes Pakistani captain Babar Azam for his strategy during the current ICC Cricket World Cup match versus India. At the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 14, Pakistan lost to India by seven wickets.
According to Gambhir, Babar appeared tense throughout the game. The 29-year-old batter’s strategy during his 50+ run partnership with wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan was also critiqued by him. Notably, Babar and Rizwan led Pakistan in runs scored with totals of 50 and 49, respectively.
Babar Azam has been quite reserved. In a partnership, two batters cannot bat in the same manner; one of them must take risks. You will get these outcomes if you play for a fifty or your runs.

Gambhir claimed during a conversation on Star Sports.
The 42-year-old continued, “Pakistan used to have very strong batters, but now there isn’t a single top-order batter who can bat aggressively.”
Babar Azam has amassed a sizable number of runs for himself, but Pakistan has a history of batting aggressively in the opening innings before consolidating throughout the middle overs, whether it was Shahid Afridi, Imran Nazir, or Taufeeq Umar. There isn’t a single hitter who can fend off the opposition’s attack here in the top three, he continued.
The former India opener also said that the Men in Green could have started their innings against a top-notch Indian attack with more courage.
“When you play against a top-notch offense, you sometimes talk in the locker room about how you won’t play cautiously even if you get out for 150. The Nos. 4 and No. 5 would consolidate if the top three go early, he added.
