KL Rahul’s mind-boggling six against Pat Cummins has left him stunned. KL Rahul stayed unbeaten on 97 off 115 as India defeat Australia by six wickets.

Rahul excell with the bat in India’s opening game of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 against Australia on Sunday, October 8 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Rahul came in at number five and batted brilliantly, scoring 97* (115) with eight fours and two sixes. After India were reduced to 2/3, he and Virat Kohli (85 off 116) put on a mammoth 165-run stand off 212 balls for the fifth wicket.

Rahul finished the game in spectacular fashion, hitting a lofted extra cover drive off Pat Cummins that cleared the fence and went all the way for a six. The shot left everyone stunned since it was aesthetically stunning and perfectly timed as it landed above the ropes. Rahul couldn’t believe what he’d done, lying on his haunches with his eyes wide open in bewilderment.

Notably, Rahul on 91 when India need five runs to win before his final six. By scoring four and six against Cummins, the 31-year-old would have scored his eighth ODI century. However, he ended up playing a breathtaking lofted extra cover drive for a six, leaving him stuck on 97 and dumbfounded.

Rahul in top form since his comeback

Notably, Rahul has been in spectacular form since his return to international cricket in the Asia Cup 2023. Since his return, he’s scored 402 runs in seven innings with an average of 100.5 and a strike rate of 92, totaling 153 innings.

Australia captain Pat Cummins won the toss and chose to bat first earlier in the encounter. However, his hitters were bowled out for 199 in 49.3 overs as Ravindra Jadeja excelled with the ball with figures of 3/28 in 10 overs.

Meanwhile, India will face Afghanistan at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday, October 11. Australia, on the other hand, will play South Africa on Thursday, October 12 in Lucknow.
