Zaka Ashraf, chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), sent his best wishes to the Pakistan men’s side ahead of the much-anticipated ODI Cricket World Cup 2023. Notably, the main event is set to begin on Thursday, October 5. Pakistan will commence the campaign against the Netherlands on October 6 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Ashraf expects the Babar Azam-led team to win the trophy for the second time. Throughout the competition, the 71-year-old also counseled the youngsters to focus on playing good cricket. Furthermore, he advised the players to believe in their ability and stated that Ashraf, along with the entire nation, will support the Men in Green.

Pakistan suffers 14-run defeat against Australia in warm-up match 

In Hyderabad, Australia won the toss and chose to bat first in the final warm-up match for the ODI World Cup 2023. Australia scored 351 runs thanks to Glenn Maxwell’s (77) and Cameron Green’s (50*) half-centuries. David Warner and Josh Inglis also contributed significantly with 48 runs each.

Pakistan’s top bowler, Usama Mir, finished with outstanding scores of 2/31. Haris Rauf, Mohammad Wasim Jr., Shadab Khan, and Mohammad Nawaz each took one scalp.

Australia limited Pakistan to 337 runs in 47.4 overs, with to three important wickets from Marnus Labuschagne. Meanwhile, skipper Pat Cummins and all-rounder Mitchell Marsh both bowled well, taking up two wickets each. Iftikhar Ahmed (83), Babar Azam (90), and Mohammad Nawaz (50) all struck half-centuries for Pakistan.
