Chahal would always be in any other team’s XI: Harbhajan. “If I were part of the management, I would definitely play him in the team, because we are all stakeholders in Indian cricket and want the Indian Cricket Team to do well,” Harbhajan stated.
Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh believes Yuzvendra Chahal and Arshdeep Singh are “missing” from India’s ODI World Cup lineup.
India has opted for left-arm spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel, as well as top wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav. Jasprit Bumrah will lead the pace attack alongside Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj, with all-rounders Hardik Pandya and Shardul Thakur also chosen. There is no left-arm seamer or off-spinner on the team.
“This team, in my opinion, is missing two people. “First, Yuzvendra Chahal, and then Arshdeep Singh,” Harbhajan stated during a Star Sports virtual press conference. “Because a left-arm seamer can bring the new ball inside, making it useful in the game. ” I’m not saying right-handers couldn’t grab two wickets early in the game. But a left-hand seamer can get an actual angle to get the wicket.
Harbhajan described Chahal as a “proven match-winner” and stated that the leg-spinner. Would have made the team if he had been a part of the management. He claimed that India could have easily fielded a leg-spinner alongside a left-arm spinner, and that the two left-arm spinners, Jadeja and Axar, will not be playing together.

Harbhajan’s remark makes sense given that both bowlers are of the same variety
India has only played the two in an ODI eight times since the former’s debut in 2014. In the upcoming World Cup, Jadeja will very definitely be selected ahead of Axar as the spin all-rounder at No. 7, with Axar or Shardul making the cut for No. 8 depending on the opponent and playing conditions.
“Yuzvendra Chahal, a proven match-winner with more wickets than any other spinner. ” If he were playing for another country, I believe he would always be in the starting XI. Even after demonstrating so much, I believe he should have been on the team. If I were in charge, I would absolutely put him in the team because we are all fans of Indian cricket and want the Indian side to succeed,” he continued.
“So, I believe these two guys are simply overlooked because we have chosen two left-arm spinners. Who will not be able to play together in the same match, whereas Jadeja and Chahal could play together. ” And if we’re going to be facing a lot of left-handed batters, we’ll need someone who can spin the ball outside as well. So, in my opinion, Yuzvendra Chahal and Arshdeep should have been on the team, and this is where everyone would disagree.”
Harbhajan also stressed the value of a left-arm pacer in a bowling attack, recalling Mitchell Starc’s spectacular run in Australia’s 2015 World Cup victory.
“You can see how Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mitchell Starc have a significant impact on the game.” Mitchell Starc had a big impact on the games when Australia won the [2015] World Cup; he sent Brendon McCullum out on the first ball. With that speed, an incoming ball into a right-hander is usually difficult,” he reasoned.
