Harbhajan Singh believes Suryakumar Yadav would hit the winning run in the 2023 ODI World Cup. Suryakumar Yadav has been outstanding for India in T20Is but has not been able to match his T20I performances in ODIs.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released a 15-member roster for the 2018 ODI World Cup in October-November earlier this week. The inclusion of T20 sensation Suryakumar Yadav was one of the biggest buzz factors. While the Mumbai batsman has been great in the shorter version of the game, his ODI figures are fairly ordinary by his lofty standards.

Sanju Samson was in the running for a middle-order position, but Suryakumar was chosen ahead of him.
Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh, on the other hand, believes the selectors made the correct decision by selecting Suryakumar over Sanju. Suryakumar is the more reliable option for middle-order hitter, according to the great off-spinner. Batting at No. 5 or 6 can be challenging, according to Harbhajan, but the 32-year-old can do it better than Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
“I believe Suryakumar Yadav is a complete player.” I don’t believe the selectors were harsh on Sanju Samson. Sanju is a very excellent player, a quality player, in my opinion. However, you can only choose fifteen players. However, selecting Suryakumar over Sanju is the correct decision. I don’t believe Sanju has the game that Suryakumar has in the middle over[s]. Even he goes for big shots from the first ball, but Suryakumar gives you confidence that he can score big. “I feel like Sanju plays the type of cricket where you have a lot of chances to get out,” Harbhajan remarked in a Star Sports talk.
“Whereas Suryakumar, I know a lot of people ask what he has done in ODIs, but what he has done in T20s, if his innings are only going to be that long, I feel there isn’t a better player in India than Suryakumar in that position.” What he can accomplish in that position is something that neither Virat [Kohli] nor Sanju or Rohit Sharma can do. Because batting at [No.] 5-6 is a difficult job for him. What [MS] Dhoni did, what Yuvi [Yuvraj Singh] did.”
Suryakumar averages 46.02 and has a strike rate of 172.7 in 53 T20Is. However, in 26 One-Day Internationals, the right-hander had an average of only 24.33. He strikes at 101.39, but his inconsistency disturbs Indian cricket fans.
