The Indian women’s squad will shortly depart for Bangladesh, where they will play a three-match ODI series followed by an equal number of T20I games. While the players have been preparing for the tour, which starts on Sunday, July 9, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has yet to name the team’s head coach.
Notably, the Indian women’s team has been without a head coach since Ramesh Powar stepped down. The Women in Blue will face Australia in a five-match T20I series in December 2022, with Hrishikesh Kanitkar as the batting coach, and they will also compete in the Women’s T20 World Cup earlier this year in South Africa, without a head coach.

The board has yet to make an official declaration. With India’s tour to Bangladesh rapidly approaching, the board has chosen former India cricketer Nooshin Al Khadeer as interim head coach, with responsibility for the bilateral series falling to her.
Notably, under Nooshin’s coaching, India’s U19 squad, captained by Shafali Verma. The inaugural Women’s U19 World Cup in South Africa in January 2023. The 2005 World Cup finalist also coached the U23 team that just won the Emerging Asia Cup in Hong Kong.
The Women in Blue are expected to leave for Bangladesh on Thursday. July 6, after meeting in Mumbai on Wednesday, July 5. Nooshin presently serves as the head coach of the Railways side in the Indian domestic league. The Railways team has the most titles to their name and has been a formidable force in domestic contests.
Nooshin was a member of the Gujarat Titans’ coaching staff and served as their bowling coach. In the first Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023. For the past two years, the former Hyderabadi cricketer has been teaching young female cricketers and working closely with the NCA. NCA faculty members Apurva Desai and Rajib Dutta will be Nooshin’s aides during his tour to Bangladesh.
