The White Ferns have announced their tour squad for Sri Lanka.

The White Ferns have announced their tour squad for Sri Lanka. New Zealand women begin a multi-format white-ball series against Sri Lanka on June 27.

The New Zealand women’s team has announced a 15-player lineup for their forthcoming white-ball tour to the island nation of Sri Lanka, which begins on June 27. Both teams will play three One-Day Internationals (ODIs), followed by three Twenty-Twenty-Innings (T20Is) beginning on July 8.

A few promising players return in the squad announcement. Rosemary Mair, a 24-year-old pacer, has returned to the squad. She last played for the White Ferns against England at the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham.

In addition, the announcement heralds the return of 19-year-old wicketkeeper Izzy Gaze. She did miss the T20 World Cup in South Africa earlier this year, but her return to the squad would undoubtedly boost her confidence.

We’re excited to have Rosemary and Izzy back: Ben Sawyer

In addition, New Zealand women’s head coach Ben Sawyer stepped up to welcome Gaze and Mary back to the squad. He remarked that the entire team is excited to see how they adjust to their return to the fold.

“We’re excited to have Rosemary and Izzy back. Both players have worked hard on their respective games since their last international tours. We’re looking forward to seeing how they handle the challenges that this tour will bring,” Stuff.co.nz quoted Ben Sawyer as saying.

“They both bring their own unique strengths to the group. We hope that they’ll contribute to what hopefully will be a successful tour,” he continued.

Sophie Devine will head the side during the tour, with Melie Kerr, Lea Tahuhu, Maddy Green, and many more experienced players joining her. With Sri Lanka hosting the series, it will be intriguing to observe how New Zealand performs under subcontinental conditions, as Sawyer mentioned.

“Almost all of the squad will be playing in Sri Lanka for the first time, so it’s a good opportunity for our players to develop their game in testing sub-continental conditions,” Ben Sawyer said.
