Sunil Gavaskar’s on Naveen-ul-Haq celebratory style during the LSG versus MI Eliminator. Naveen-ul-Haq concluded his spell with four wickets and closed his ear with his fingers every time he got a wicket.
Sunil Gavaskar, former India captain and renowned cricketer, provided a unique take on Naveen-ul-Haq’s new celebration approach following the Lucknow Super Giants’ last game against the Mumbai Indians. The two teams met in the IPL 2023 Eliminator, where the five-time champions MI knocked LSG out of contention.
In the first innings, Naveen-ul-Haq was outstanding with the ball, picking up four wickets while conceding 38 runs in his four-over session. But it was his wicket celebration manner, in which he emulated KL Rahul’s century celebration style by covering his ears with his fingers, that drew everyone’s attention.
Naveen-ul-Haq put his fingers in his ears to show the spectators that he was filtering out outside noise after dismissing Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma in the important IPL 2023 Eliminator match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. During the Eliminator, Naveen, who had previously raised his shirt collar to show off his wickets, adopted the new gesture.

Sunil Gavaskar notice when Naveen-ul-Haq celebrated Green and Suryakumar’s wickets in the same way.
“He’s had problems with the crowd. You should celebrate by laughing at your own ears. This is the first time he has a wicket. He must pay attention to the applause. Don’t chuck your ears if someone else gets a hundred. Listen to the applause, then chuck your palm behind your ears and ask, “Hello, can I hear you now?” That’s how the party should go. “By the way, that’s old me saying this,” Gavaskar added on air.
Naveen-ul-Haq, who has been an excellent addition to the Lucknow Super Giants’ IPL 2023 team, has taken 11 wickets in 8 games this season at a decent average of 19.91. On May 1, RCB defeated LSG in Lucknow, and Naveen and Kohli got into an incident on the field.
Following the game, Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli exchanged words about the on-field fight, sparking a broader feud between the two sides. Following the heated on-field altercation, Gambhir and Kohli were fined 100% of their match fees, while Naveen was fined 50%.
Notably, Naveen created quite a fuss with his Instagram stories during RCB games, and his “sweet mangoes” post following Virat Kohli’s removal from a match against the Mumbai Indians infuriated the star RCB batter’s fans.
