Babar Azam will lead our national team till he decides to go down: Najam Sethi. Azam will miss the forthcoming T20I series against Afghanistan.
Najam Sethi, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), stated that Babar Azam may continue as national captain until he decides to step down. With the departure of Sarfaraz Ahmed, the 28-year-old captains Pakistan in all three forms.
Babar will miss the forthcoming three-match T20I series against Afghanistan. Which begins on March 25 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, while Shadab Khan has been appointed as the series’ stand-in skipper.
In light of the same incidents, Sethi, who has replaced Ramiz Raja as PCB chairman. Stated that Babar’s captaincy will not be jeopardize. Sethi remarked that if Azam wishes to step down as captain, it is entirely his decision.
“There is no threat. Our established skipper Babar will remain the captain of our national squad until he himself decides whether he wants to leave the captaincy of any one format or all three formats or he wants to remain the captain in all. It will totally be his call,” Sethi was quoted as saying by India Today.

According to Najam Sethi , Babar supported the choice to test young actors in the future series.
Pakistan chose youthful players like as Ihsanullah, Zaman Khan, and Saim Ayub, who all excelled in the Pakistan Premier League (PSL) 2023 for Afghanistan T20Is. Sethi stated that he supported the PCB’s choice to choose young players for the series against Afghanistan.
“I hold a high regard for Babar; he is our shining light. I am overjoy that he agree with our plan to pit young people against Afghanistan. ” Sethi went on to say.
In the PSL 2023 season, Azam is the captain of Peshawar Zalmi. Nevertheless, he miss his previous game against Islamabad United due to sickness and is scheduled to return for the Eliminator 1 against the same opponents at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
