Dinesh Karthik believes that triumphs have obscured India’s difficulties. “When you lose a match, it is glaringly clear, it is there in your face, and people will speak about it, and they are entitled to do so,” Karthik remarked after India’s loss in Indore.
Dinesh Karthik, an Indian cricketer and commentator, offered his thoughts on the key issues that still exist among the current group that will compete in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 against Australia.
After winning the first two Tests and retaining the prized Trophy, India’s winning streak in Tests at home came to an end when they were defeated by the Kangaroos by nine wickets in the third Test at Indore’s Holkar Stadium.
“We cannot disguise the reality that India’s top seven have not received the marks that they would desire. We’re talking about repeated collapses. Is it tough to bat in this field? Very emphatically. But, as a team, they have decided to play on these fields, which means they must rely on them. They are talented; many of the players have certainly played on tougher wickets and thrived, but international cricket is a different ball game,” the 37-year-old stated on Cricbuzz.

Victories camouflaged India’s issues: Dinesh karthik
The wicketkeeper-batter felt it was pointless for India to support players who were unable to play in such difficult circumstances. He claimed that these issues are not new; they have been present since the Bangladesh series, but India opted to ignore them since they were winning the games.
“After you get out a few of times, you have so many doubts that your confidence drops. And then you have to go out there and still believe in yourself simply to make those huge shots to get away from the pressure. “I absolutely understand the Indian batsmen; it’s tough work, but that’s what Test cricket is,” he remarked.
According to Karthik, the loss in the third Test has finally opened up everything, and it is past time for the Indian think-tank to make some serious changes.
“They would admit that a major portion of it has been hidden by two factors. – The lower level contributions and the fact that India have won both those matches. ” If you look back to the Bangladesh series, they struggled against spinners as well. But that was obscured by India winning those matches and the lower order contributions. ” He remarked.
“But when you lose a match, it is blatantly evident, it is there in your face and people will speak about it and they are correct in doing so. It has happened frequently over a period of time, and the issue will be raised as to how Team India is continually backing these guys when they are failing to provide the needed scores,” Karthik said.
