South Africa have named bowler Gerald Coetzee to their Test team for the forthcoming three-match Test series in Australia. Regulars Rassie van der Dussen (finger) and Keshav Maharaj (groin). Which missed at least part of South Africa’s T20 World Cup due to injury. Have rehabilitated and are on the 16-man roster.
Coetzee, 22, secured his place by dominating for his home squad Knights. Where he has 40 wickets at an average of 28.82 and a career-best 4-47 in 13 first-class appearances.
Conversely, Theunis de Bruyn has also been reinstated following a great first-class campaign with the Titans. When he average an amazing 41.83, including a title-winning 143 during the final round of matches.

CSA T20 Challenge final
Heinrich Klaasen replaces Ryan Rickelton, who completed his three Tests against England in September. Rickelton is rehabbing from an ankle injury that kept him out of the Tests. Top-order batsman Keegan Petersen is also unavailable for selection. After sustaining a serious hamstring injury while playing for the Dolphins in the CSA T20 Challenge final in Potchefstroom earlier this month.
“We are pleased with the group of players that have been assembled for this tour. I think the selectors now have a core group of Proteas that has been built and it is just about building on what we have,”
National Convenor of Selectors Victor Mpitsang said.
“There is a welcome return for our vice-captain Temba after his injury and we are also happy to have Rassie back too following his finger injury in England. I am especially excited about our pace attack, which is no doubt growing in stature and strength.”

“Overall, all the players selected undoubtedly have the ability to play at the highest level, and evidence of that is our standing on the ICC World Test Championship table. We are confident that if they play to their ability, we can challenge Australia in their conditions,”

The team will fly to Australia on December 1 and begin the trip with a four-day practice match against Cricket Australia XI in Brisbane on December 9. The first Test will also be played in Brisbane, at the Gabba, beginning on December 17, followed by the Boxing Day Test at the MCG and the New Year’s Test in Sydney, which begins on January 4.
