Coach Jeff Vaughan told australia.com.au.
”We have absolute faith and trust in Tim and his preparation. Physically he is probably in the greatest spot of his playing career, emotionally he is sound. He has been training really well with us the last two months. We have got full faith in his wicketkeeping skillset so he has ticked all of the boxes.”
Vaughan added.
Tim Paine was expected to represent Australia in the 2021/22 Ashes before the sexting controversy prompted him to resign as captain and take an indefinite vacation from the game. Pat Cummins was immediately named Australia’s red-ball captain, and he guided the hosts to a convincing 4-0 victory.
Since then, Australia has done extremely well in Test cricket under Cummins’ captaincy, topping the ICC Test team rankings as well as the WTC points table. The Australians appear to be heavy favorites to reach the final of the ICC World Test Championship next year.
