Nepali police have requested Interpol assistance in locating the country’s fugitive suspend national cricket captain, Sandeep Lamichhane, they announce on Tuesday. Following an allegation of rape by a 17-year-old girl. A Nepali court issued an arrest warrant for Lamichhane earlier this month. However, the leg-spinner is believe to have remain in the Caribbean, where he was competing in a tournament. Interpol issued a “diffusion” notice against him on Sunday. Requesting member countries’ assistance in locating him, according to Nepali police spokesperson Tek Prasad Rai.
“We hope that this will aid in the arrest of Lamichhane for the investigation of a rape complaint,” he said.

Lamichhane promised to return home to fight the accusation on social media on Sunday.
The 22-year-old posted on Facebook, without revealing his location, that he was in “isolation” due to his mental and physical conditions, and that the arrest warrant had “made me mentally disturbed.”
Lamichhane was a poster boy for the rise of cricket in Nepal’s mountainous regions, which gained one-day international status in 2018.
His big break came in 2018, when he sign by the Delhi Capitals for the lucrative Indian Premier League. He has since become Nepal’s most sought-after cricketer.
He was suspended as captain of the national team after the arrest warrant was issued. Withdrew from the Caribbean Premier League, where he was playing for the Jamaica Tallawahs.
According to police, approximately 2,300 rape cases were reported in Nepal in the previous fiscal year, but rights activists claim that many more assaults go unreported.
