Ajay Jadeja believes Axar Patel is on par with Ravindra Jadeja. “The only thing that really distinguishes them is their fielding,” said Ajay Jadeja.
Axar Patel, according to former India cricketer Ajay Jadeja, is on par with Ravindra Jadeja. In the absence of Jadeja, Axar has proven his worth and established himself as one of India’s match-winners. While Axar’s bowling has always been a valuable skill, he has also improved his batting and recently played a crucial innings against the West Indies.
Despite making a significant impact, the 28-year-old is not included in India’s Asia Cup squad. He will, however, have an opportunity to prove his worth before the T20 World Cup by being named to the squad. However, it is his batting, not his bowling, that may help him make the squad, and Ajay Jadeja believes he has improved with the bat.
“He has added so much to the batting in the last few years that you’d think he (Jadeja) is quite ahead because he can bat.” But, when it comes to batting, he recently won a game for India (against West Indies). There is a distinction between scoring runs and bailing a team out and taking the game all the way to victory. That adds pressure, which is good for Indian cricket,” Ajay Jadeja said on Sony Six.

The only thing that truly distinguishes them is their fielding: Ajay Jadeja
The former cricketer also stated that the fielding ability of the two players distinguishes them. Axar, who joined the team as a bowling all-rounder, can bolster his case by performing well against quality opponents. However, in the presence of Jadeja, he rarely gets the chance.
“In terms of numbers and wickets, Jadeja has been around a lot longer.” They are currently on par with one another. The only thing that truly distinguishes them is their fielding; he has that extra edge and experience. “Axar is on his back, which is great for Indian cricket,” the 51-year-old said.
