Sanju Samson named to India’s T20I squad in place of KL Rahul. After contracting the Covid-19 virus last week, KL Rahul rule out of the series.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has named Sanju Samson as KL Rahul’s replacement in the T20I squad to face the West Indies in five T20Is beginning on Friday, July 29th. The series opener was supposed to join the team after recovering from surgery, but he is unable to do so due to Covid-19.
There some confusion earlier in the day when Sanju Samson. Include in the squad without any official announcement from the BCCI. But in the most recent update, it has been confirm that Samson will replace Rahul in the squad.
Samson, who play for India in the recent three-match ODI series, initially left out of the T20I series. Samson scored his first T20I half-century against Ireland last month. Made the most of his opportunity in the ODI series against the West Indies, scoring his first ODI fifty.

The BCCI is not taking any chances with KL Rahul and has advised him to take another week off.
Meanwhile, KL Rahul, who had a productive IPL 2022 season. Rule out of the T20I series against SA due to an injury and later underwent sports hernia surgery in Germany. Rahul, one of India’s most important players, has been out since the IPL 2022.
Before heading to the island nation, the ace opener continued his rehabilitation at the NCA in Bengaluru and looked in great shape. However, just before leaving the country, he tested positive for Covid-19.
Although the Karnataka man has completed his isolation period, the BCCI’s medical team has advised him to rest and recuperate for another week. He will most likely play in the ODI series against Zimbabwe ahead of the Asia Cup in the UAE later next month.
