The main reason I wanted to join LSG was to help build something from the scratch: Marcus Stoinis

The main reason I wanted to join LSG was to help build something from the scratch: Marcus Stoinis. LSG defeated by RCB in the IPL 2022 eliminator.

Marcus Stoinis, an Australian all-rounder, has signed with Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League 2022 to help the new franchise build from the ground up. He also discussed how former Australia great Shane Warne established a culture with the Rajasthan Royals in their early days.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) finished fourth in the playoffs after losing to Royal Challengers (RCB) in the eliminator, and third in the league with nine wins out of 14 games in their debut season in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Apart from skipper KL Rahul, Stoinis and leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi were select by the new IPL franchise prior to the mega auction in 2022. The all-rounder, on the other hand, had a quiet season, scoring only 156 runs and taking four wickets in 11 games.

Marcus Stoinis on signing with LSG: “I have a blank canvas to work with.”

Stoinis stated that building the team with captain KL Rahul and owner Sanjiv Goenka is something he will remember in 10 to 15 years. The Australian also mentioned how, in his early days in the IPL, he was just happy to be there. He also stated that forming bonds and relationships with players over the years has aided him. Stoinis debuted in the IPL in 2015 with the Delhi Daredevils (now known as the Delhi Capitals), and has since played for the Kings XI Punjab (now known as the Punjab Kings), Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Delhi Capitals.

“The main reason I wanted to sign with Lucknow was to help build something from the ground up.” “You have a blank canvas to work with, and you’re working with people like KL Rahul and Sanjeev to build something that you’ll look back on in 10-15 years,” Stoinis told Cricbuzz. “I remember Warnie and how he got start with Rajasthan and what he did there, and how he’s still an integral part of that team and helped build that culture.”

“When I first went to the IPL, 6-7 years ago, I was this young kid who was happy to be there, happy to do whatever was needed, almost on training camp every year because I wasn’t playing that much cricket,” Stoinis added. “I definitely have noticed as I’ve gone back, now that I’m a bit older and playing a different role in the IPL, those relationships have helped,” he said of developing relationships with players.
