ENGLAND TOUR OF WEST INDIES2022: When both sides want to bowl on it, he tells you about the wicket.
Saqib Mahmood, England’s number 11 hitter, lauded West Indies’ bowling; on the surface of the show arrangement, which had something in it for the bowlers. The third and last Test started on Thursday; on a pitch with living grass and a few dampness underneath after two level tracks created draws.
Britain batted to begin with after winning the hurl and being educating; to do so by Kraigg Brathwaite, who fought through the opening two of sessions. “I accept it says a parcel around a wicket when both sides need to bowl on it; and credit to West Indies I thought they bowled truly well,” Mahmood told BT Don after Day 1 finished.
Kemar Roach, Kyle Mayers, Jayden Seales, and Alzarri Joseph, the West Indies’ pace quartet; got the ball to the seam and seam prodigiously, while several balls bounced unevenly to confuse England batsmen’ decision-making. England were three down at lunch, and by the second session’s drinks break; they had lost seven wickets for just 85 runs.
When Chris Woakes fell early in the final session, England was on the verge of finishing; with an embarrassingly low score of 114 for 9, but out came Mahmood to forge an unexpected obstinate; stand alongside a gritty Jack Leach.

“They didn’t let us hit much in the opening couple of periods; they were really controlled, and the wicket definitely helped them. But we have a session-by-session attitude in our dressing room, and despite losing the first two sessions; it was amazing to come back at the end of the day and count that final session; as a win “Mahmood elaborated. The two players became much more at ease as the ball became more seasoned and gentler, and the conditions progressed. Some of the West Indies’ wicket-taking vehicles, according to Mahmood, were nearly unplayable.
“You can see some of the balls they got out to; and you almost have to be careful not to nick balls like that. For example, Ben Foakes’ ball swings away and nips back, which is a bowler’s dream. So you could see early on that there was a lot in the wicket, and credit to the West Indies.
Due to the improving circumstances, Mahmood went on to post his highest Test score (49) and even hit his first red-ball six. “If you listen to me in the changing room, even before this, I constantly say it,” Mahmood joked about being an allrounder. “But no, I’m going to take today.” It’s all downhill from here, according to one of the lads.

When I got out there, I saw a handful of the boys already dressed in their whites, which pushed me a little harder to make sure I was out there for a while.”
With the stand still intact, Mahmood and Leach were on their way to stumps when the former played one onto his stumps from Jermaine Blackwood on the fourth delivery of the final over of the day. He fell short of his half-century by one run, but his and Leach’s efforts helped England reach 214.
