New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has nominated ex-cricketer Harbhajan Singh. IIT professor Sandeep Pathak, educationist Ashok Kumar Mittal. And also Delhi MLA Raghav Chadha for the Rajya Sabha, or upper house of parliament, in Punjab, where the party recently won a landslide victory.
On April 9, five Rajya Sabha seats will become vacant. And also names must be submit today for elections on March 31.
Harbhajan Singh, 41, filed his AAP nomination and also was seen wearing a yellow turban inspire by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who was seat next to him.
“After making India proud as a bowling legend, Mr. Turbanator will now raise his voice in Parliament for the people of Punjab,” AAP tweeted, along with a video.
Raghav Chadha, ex-cricketer and IIT professor, is on the AAP’s Rajya Sabha list.
Before the elections, Harbhajan Singh met with former Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu. Fueling speculation that he would run for Congress. However, the former cricketer has denied the allegations.
In Punjab, the AAP won 92 of the 117 assembly seats. After the Rajya Sabha election, the AAP’s upper house strength is expect to rise from three to eight.
