Rishabh Pant has made history as the fastest Indian wicketkeeper to reach 100 dismissals in Test cricket. Former Indian wicketkeeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s record has been broken by the Delhi Capitals captain.
The SuperSport Stadium in Centurion is hosting the opening Test of a three-match series between India and South Africa. Rishabh Pant, Team India’s youthful wicket-keeper batter, set a new record in this match on Tuesday.

Former Indian wicketkeeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s record has been broken by the Delhi Capitals captain.
Pant completed South African batsman Temba Bavuma’s catch behind the stumps on Day 3 of the first Test between India and South Africa. He did it in 50 innings over the course of 26 Test matches.
Dhoni and Wriddhiman Saha have combined for 100 dismissals in 36 Test matches before him. Other Indian wicketkeepers who have completed 100 dismissals in the longest format of the game are Kiran More, Nayan Mongia, and Syed Kirmani.
Quinton de Kock, a South African wicketkeeper, holds the world record for the fastest 100 dismissals as a wicketkeeper, which he did in 22 Test matches.
Pant is the sixth Indian wicketkeeper in Test cricket history to take 100 or more wickets
Dhoni leads the list of Indian wicket-keepers with the most wickets, with 294. Pant broke MS Dhoni’s record of 1000 Test runs in 27 innings as a wicket-keeper batter in January 2021.
In terms of the contest, Mohammed Shami (5/44) bowled South Africa out for just 197 runs at Stumps on Day 3 of the first Test between India and South Africa.
With in-form KL Rahul and nightwatchman Shardul standing on the crease to start the proceedings on day 4, the hosts gained an early breakthrough in the form of Mayank Agarwal, but India were still in a solid position with a 130-run lead.
