Veteran pundit Harsha Bhogle has selected his Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 squad. He listed eleven players, four of whom were foreigners. The West Indies produced three of his four abroad selections.
The openers, Sunil Narine and Virat Kohli, were announced
The Rajasthan Royals team of Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag came next. The middle order made up of Dinesh Karthik, Andre Russell, and Nicholas Pooran. In the meantime, the XI’s specialty seamers were Trent Boult, T Natarajan, and Jasprit Bumrah. In the side, Varun Chakaravarthy chosen as the lone spinner.

As the tournament’s top run scorer, Kohli claimed the Orange Cap for the second time in his career. In 15 games, he amassed 741 runs at an average of 61.75. Throughout the IPL, Narine showed promise with the bat and the ball, amassing 17 wickets and 488 runs to claim the Most Valuable Player title for the third time. His reliability with the bat and the ball was crucial to KKR’s third IPL championship.
Samson and Parag led the Rajasthan Royals to Qualifier 2 with respective scores of 573 and 531 runs
Nicholas Pooran, on the other hand, had his best IPL season to date, scoring 499 runs at a great strike rate of 178.21. Although he didn’t light the stage on fire with his batting, KKR great Russell made some memorable cameos. He did, however, have a scorching touch with the ball, taking 19 wickets at 15.53 from 14 matches.
Karthik, the adopted son of Bengaluru, struggled in the 2023 Indian Premier League and was unable to replicate his incredible 2022 season. But in IPL 2024, the wicketkeeper-batter turned back the clock, amassing 326 runs at a strike average of 187.36.
Bumrah headlines the bowling department after bagging 20 wickets from 13 matches in IPL 2024 at an average of 16.80. Only Chakravarthy (21) and Harshal Patel (24) picked more wickets than Bumrah in IPL 2024. Boult didn’t have his best season in the league but managed to find a spot in Bhogle’s playing XI. The New Zealand pacer accounted for 16 wickets from as many matches at 27.68. Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s T Natarajan had a phenomenal season, scalping 19 wickets from 14 matches at 24.47.
