Due of the short match durations, the BCCI will not hold pink-ball Tests. India hosted three pink-ball Test matches so far.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has expressed reservations about hosting pink-ball Test matches in the near future. Secretary Jay Shah acknowledged the current development, stating that the matches always conclude too soon, something the board does not like. Notably, India has hosted three pink-ball Test matches so far, all of which were lopsided. They defeated Bangladesh (2019) and Sri Lanka (2022) in three days, and they overcame England by a 10-wicket margin in 2021.

Shah stated that Indian fans prefer a five-day Test match and are not interested in pink-ball contests at the time. He did, however, tell supporters that once they get accustomed to shorter Test matches, the board will aim to hold Test matches under lights.

“The public’s interest in the pink-ball Test will have to be increased. ” The (pink-ball) Tests, as you recall, lasted two to three days. Everyone wants to see a four-to-five-day Test match. “We will do more pink-ball Tests once they get used to it. ” Shah told reporters following the WPL auction on December 9.

Notably, India last played a pink-ball Test against Australia in Adelaide

The Virat Kohli-led team was all out for 36 runs. Australia easily chased down the score, and there hasn’t been much conversation about the Day-Night Test in the cricketing world since. Shah recalled this, adding that they were in negotiations with the ECB to host one and would do so gradually.

“No one has done it since the last time it was done in Australia. ” We were in negotiations with England, but we’ll take our time,” the 35-year-old stated.

Meanwhile, India has a busy Test schedule coming up in the following days. The Rohit Sharma-led team will face South Africa in a two-match series before facing England in a five-match series. Both series are crucial since the team wants to do well and continue in the battle to qualify for the WTC final for the third time.
