The WPL 2024 auction will take place on December 9 in Mumbai. The highly anticipated WPL player auction for the 2024 season is set for December 9 in Mumbai. Each of the five teams in this thrilling event will get an additional purse of INR 1.5 crore, which is roughly US $180,228. This cash boost is in addition to any leftover auction balance and monies gained from player releases.
During the day-long auction, 30 spots will be up for grabs, with nine foreign players competing. The five organizations have kept 60 players, including 21 from other countries, and discharged 29. The monies from player releases, combined with any residual balance from the last auction. Supplement the INR 1.5 crore starting purse for a thrilling and perhaps game-changing bidding session.
The debut season of the WPL was a huge success, displaying great talent from all around the world, with the exception of Pakistan. The event feature 22 matches and held at three different locations in Mumbai. As of yet, the BCCI has not notified the franchises of the second edition’s dates and structure. Rupee reached its exhaustion during first season of WPL
Seven players secured stunning agreements for INR 2 crore during the previous year’s auction. Three elite players, notably Smriti Mandhana, Ashleigh Gardner, and Nat Sciver-Brunt, breaking the INR 3-crore mark. In the inaugural WPL season. Clubs were given a budget of INR 12 crore (roughly US $1.44 million) to create their rosters, and two of the five franchises use the entire amount.
The defending champions, the Mumbai Indians, and the UP Warriorz, have full budgets. Gujarat Giants have INR 5 lakhs (about US $6007). Delhi Capitals have INR 35 lakhs (approximately US $42,053), and Royal Challengers Bangalore have INR 10 lakhs (approximately US $12,015) as their remaining balance.
