It is everybody’s job to win games: Jonathan Trott. “There’s batsmen who’ve got to put runs on the board or batsmen who’ve got to chase down a total,” Jonathan Trott remarked.
In the 22nd clash of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Afghanistan are set to face off against Pakistan at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. A stern warning sounded by Afghanistan’s head coach, Jonathan Trott, emphasising that victory cannot rest solely on the shoulders of their spinners. Despite their pivotal role in the triumphant outing against England last week, the batters have notably failed to deliver on the big stage.
While the pacers have improved slightly, the combination of Naveen ul Haq, Fazalhaq Farooqui. Azmatullah Omarzai has only taken nine wickets in four matches, all at a high cost. In preparation for the approaching vital match, Coach Trott underlined the need of the batters shouldering their responsibilities rather than relying too heavily on the spinners’ abilities.
“The problem is that there are only two or three spinners in a game. ” It’s also vital to remember that the other eight have to play the game as well. So, winning games is everyone’s responsibility, not just the spinners’. There are batters who must score runs and batsmen who must chase down a total. ” Trott stated, as reported by Cricbuzz.

Dropped catches hurt Afghanistan more than anything in Kiwi encounter
Afghanistan’s fielding performance has generated concerns. Most notably in their previous match against New Zealand, where they dropped seven important catches, unquestionably costing them victory. Their catch success rate in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 has been disappointing. Coach Trott, on the other hand, is confident that his squad will improve their fielding performance when they meet Pakistan.
“Dropped catches don’t help, especially when you win the toss and choose to bowl first because you want to put the opposition under pressure.” We had the opportunity to do so with New Zealand, and we took it. So, obviously, there are things you could do better in the things you’d like to do differently, and we’ll look into that tomorrow,” he added.
