On Friday, October 20, Australia and Pakistan will face off in Match 18 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Pakistan captain Babar Azam won the toss and chose to bat first on a fantastic batting track. The plan backfired spectacularly, as Australian openers David Warner and Mitchell Marsh put on a mammoth opening stand of 259 runs off 203 deliveries.
David Warner celebrates his century against Pakistan in ‘Pushpa’ style, in particular, looked imperious as he reached his 21st ODI century. The southpaw reached the milestone with a single against Mohammad Nawaz in the 31st over of the innings. Notably, it was his fourth consecutive hundred against Pakistan in ODIs, and the opener celebrated in style, leaping into the air in joy. To commemorate the occasion, Warner performed the famed ‘Pushpa’ gesture as the crowd in Bengaluru yelled his name at the top of their lungs.

Warner went on to bat for 163 runs off 124 balls, smashing 14 fours and nine sixes in his innings. He moved up to sixth place in the tournament’s run scorers chart as a result of his knock. The 36-year-old currently has 228 runs in four innings pitched at a 57 percent strike rate.
Shaheen Afridi picked his third five-wicket haul of ODI career
Mitchell Marsh, who also scored his second ODI century, was a huge help to him. Marsh went on to score 121 off 108 balls, with ten fours and nine sixes.
However, after their enormous partnership ended, no other batsman could score more than 21 points, and Australia closed their innings with 367/9. Pakistan’s pick of the bowlers was Shaheen Afridi, who picked up his third five-wicket haul in ODIs. The left-arm seamer took 5/54 in ten overs, while Haris Rauf (3/83, 8 overs) also took three wickets.
