Cricket formally approved for inclusion in the Los Angeles Olympics by the International Olympic Committee. The motion approve during an IOC voting session on Monday, October 16, during the 141st meeting in Mumbai.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has approved the proposal to add cricket in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles on Monday (October 16). The idea was approve during a vote session at the 141st IOC meeting, which held at the cutting-edge Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. Notably, two IOC members voted against the cricket proposal, while one abstained.
Five new games have been propose for the 2028 Los Angeles Games. Aside from cricket, LA28 will include baseball-softball, flag football, lacrosse (sixes), and squash.
According to IOC President Thomas Bach, cricket has grown in popularity, particularly in the Twenty 20 format. He also mentioned the ICC Cricket World Cup, saying it is already a success.
