Australia has a strategy for dealing with Indian spinners: Pat Cummins. The five-time champions will face India on October 8 at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium.
Australia skipper Pat Cummins believes his team has a strategy for dealing with Indian bowlers in their first encounter of the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup. The five-time champions will face India on October 8 at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium.
Cummins noted that the Australians have previously played Indian spinners and done well. He also stated that the team’s victory in the third ODI against India last month was a significant lift heading into the big event.
“It (preparation) begins with training in the days leading up to the game.” The Australians use a lot of spin. Our batting order has played extensively and well in India, so they are familiar with the majority of the (Indian) bowlers and have a strategy in place. We are quite optimistic. We got a good win in the third One-Day International (in Rajkot), which was arguably closer to our strongest XI. The Week cited Cummins as adding, “We’ve had pretty good records in ODIs in India.”

I’m expecting a great tournament from Dave: Pat Cummins
Cummins also lauded experienced batter David Warner for his aggressive style of play. Warner was in fine form during the most recent ODI series in India, scoring three half-centuries in a row just before the World Cup. The Australian captain also stated that the team is ready to compete in the ICC mega event.
“In the last month, Dave (Warner) has been fantastic, particularly in white-ball cricket.” He is not only scoring runs, but he is also being aggressive. He’s taking the game on and getting the innings started well. So I’m anticipating a fantastic tournament from Dave. “He’s been consistent, and I like the way he’s going about it,” Cummins said.
“In India, it feels like a second home.” With five ODIs in South Africa and three against India, preparations have been excellent. “It feels like we’ve got enough games for our starting XI and the bench,” the Australian continued.
