Rohit Sharma shuts down journalist when asked about controversial boundary count decision. Rohit further remarked that he considers himself fortunate to be the leader of the current class.
All captains gathered for a combined news conference ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023, hosted by former cricketers Ravi Shastri and Eoin Morgan. After the floor was opened for questions from the media, one journalist spoke about the 2019 World Cup debacle, in which England defeated New Zealand on boundary counts on the night of the finals to claim their maiden world title in the 50-overs format.
Rohit Sharma, as is his wont, laughed at the topic and stated that he is not in a position to announce winners. Jos Buttler, who was in the final, couldn’t comprehend the journalist’s query and was seen asking Babar Azam to interpret it for him, while the latter was seen chuckling after hearing Rohit’s humorous response.
“Kya yaar.. Kuch bhi.. This is not my work. It’s not my job to announce the winners,” Rohit said as everyone on the floor started laughing.

I’m quite lucky to be leading this team: Rohit Sharma
The host nation has won the last three editions of the ODI World Cup. As a result, India will begin as one of the favorites to complete the task this time. In response, skipper Rohit Sharma stated that he considers himself fortunate to lead the team and does not dwell on the past, preferring to focus on the present and enjoy the event.
“I consider myself extremely fortunate to be managing this team. To be honest, I’m not giving it much thought. It has happened in the last three global editions. “All I can say is that we will give it our all and enjoy the tournament because it is a long tournament and you can’t get too far ahead of yourself,” Rohit said.
Notably, India will kick up their World Cup campaign against Australia on October 8 at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium.
