I adore Ishan Kishan and our playful exchanges: Shane Bond. The MI strength and conditioning coach Paul Chapman gave Kishan the “out of love” moniker. According to the bowling coach, who also disclosed a swear word.
After serving as their bowling coach, former New Zealand pace wonder Shane Bond forged a close bond with the cricketers of the Mumbai Indians. Ishan Kishan, a strong wicketkeeper-batter who has been a mainstay of the MI team for half a decade, and Bond have developed a special bond.
The MI strength and conditioning coach Paul Chapman gave Kishan the “out of love” moniker. According to the bowling coach, who also disclosed a swear word. Bond’s tender narrative sheds light on the togetherness among the MI team and exemplifies the special relationships that cricket creates.
I admire Ishan. He’s funny, too. I enjoy our joking around so much. He referred to as a dkhead by Chappy, Paul Chapman (laughter). If you’re acting like a dkhead, you’re acting like a dkhead. Even now, we still refer to him as a dkhead, but we mean it. You develop strong bonds when you hang out with these athletes, the 48-year-old said on the YouTube channel “Wake up with Sorabh.”

Shane Bond on Mumbai Indians’ scouting system
However, there was more going on in the dialogue than just joking around. The former Kiwi bowler also praised the MI scouting system for finding underrated players like Kumar Kartikeya and Akash Madhwal. These two aspiring cricketers first appeared at the MI camp as net bowlers, but they persevered through the ranks to secure a spot in the team.
Two of the net bowlers were Akash and Kumar Kartikeya. They were chosen for the team based on their performances. What appeals to me about the two is their consistent attitude. At age 16, Kumar left home and didn’t return till he had accomplished something. Aakash is a smart guy, and the fact that both of them seized the chance demonstrates their success-oriented mindset, he continued.
Bond will be replaced as the team’s bowling coach by Lasith Malinga, who previously held that position with Mumbai Indians’ SA20 club MI Cape Town for the league’s second season.
