Ricky Ponting lavished praise on Yashasvi Jaiswal, according to Nasser Hussain. After a record-breaking IPL 2023, Jaiswal stormed his way into the Indian team.
Yashasvi Jaiswal has risen quickly through the success ladders in recent months following his outstanding performance with the bat in the IPL 2023. During the T20 spectacular, the southpaw broke records by scoring the most runs (625) by an uncapped batter in league history. Jaiswal’s remarkable run earned him his first India call-up as a reserve for the World Test Championship final in 2023.
The 21-year-old has gained international recognition for his impressive gameplay and diverse stroke repertoire. Nasser Hussian, a former England captain, recently praise the child and shared a conversation he had with Ricky Ponting about his abilities.
Hussain further lauded the Indian first-class structure and the IPL for creating one excellent player after the other.
“He appears to have the technique as well as the mindset.” Like other young Indian players, especially batters, most of them achieve rapid success. And the fact that first-class cricket is being created, rather than just the IPL, is a good omen,” he continued.

Yashasvi Jaiswal became the 17th Indian player to achieve a century in his Test debut.
Notably, Jaiswal got his international career off to a flying start when he scored a spectacular century on his debut in Dominica during the first Test of the recent two-match series against the West Indies. The southpaw struck a stunning 171 (387) on his Test debut, becoming the 17th Indian player to do so. In addition, he recently made his T20I debut during the third T20I of the same tour.
However, he failed to make an impression when he was dismissed for 1 (2) in the first over. The Uttar Pradesh-born batsman will be looking to make apologies in the series’ fourth game on Saturday, August 12.
