Pakistan has been awarded permission to compete in the ODI World Cup in 2023

Pakistan has been award permission to compete in the ODI World Cup in 2023. A security team recently dispatched to India to assess the situation.

Pakistan have officially confirmed their participation in the forthcoming ODI World Cup 2023 after much deliberation. Notably, when India refused to participate in the Asia Cup in Pakistan. The PCB issued a series of announcements claiming that the Babar Azam-led side will not be traveling to the Indian subcontinent for the World Cup until the BCCI changes their stance. Following this, there were numerous discussions over the Asia Cup predicament, which eventually addressed.

Since then, PCB was expected to clear the air about Pakistan’s World Cup participation, but it took some time to finalize. The Zaka Ashraf-led council dispatched a security team to India to check the grounds, and following their report, the Pakistan government granted permission for the team to travel to India for the flagship competition.

“Pakistan has consistently maintained that sports and politics should not be mixed. ” As a result, it has decided to send a cricket team to India to compete in the next ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. ” Stated the Foreign Office in a statement on Sunday.

“Pakistan’s decision demonstrates its constructive and responsible approach in contrast to India’s intransigent attitude. As the latter refused to send its Cricket Team to Pakistan for the Asia Cup. ” the statement continued.

Pakistan’s fixtures in ODI World Cup still unclear

Pakistan were scheduled to play their first encounter against the Netherlands on October 6th, according to the BCCI schedule. The date of the match, however, is likely to alter. Notably, the showpiece match between India and Pakistan slated to take place on October 15 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. But due to Navratri, it is likely to be reschedule for October 14. The entire schedule may look different when it is re-release.

Pakistan’s game against England on November 12 is also in doubt. As the Cricket Association of Bengal has been advise by Kolkata Police that handling such a high-voltage contest on Diwali night may be difficult. As a result, a number of Pakistan’s matches may be reschedule in the coming days.
