Many individuals promoted and positioned myself as an overthinker: Ravichandran Ashwin. Ravichandran Ashwin was left out of India’s playing XI for the World Test Championship final, which has finished.
After defeating India by 209 runs, Australia claimed the World Test Championship for the 2021-2023 cycle. Nathan Lyon excelled in the fourth inning, striking out four Indian batters. Ravichandran Ashwin, India’s best off-spinner and the No. 1 bowler in the ICC Test rankings, was forced to sit out and watch his team’s lackluster performance because he was not selected in the playing XI.
In an interview with The Indian Express, the Chennai-born spinner slammed people for labeling him a “overthinker.” Ashwin added that if he had been assured of playing frequently for India, he would not have had to overthink things.
“Many people promoted and positioned myself as an overthinker. A person who can acquire 15-20 matches on the run does not need to overthink things. A person who knows they will only receive two games will be traumatized and overthinking because it is my job. This is my adventure. So this is what works for me. If someone tells me, ‘you’re going to play 15 matches, you’ll be looked after, you’ll be this, you’re in charge of players, you’re in charge of the team,’ I won’t overthink it. “How could I?”
“It’s unfair to label someone as an overthinker because that person’s journey is unique to him.” Nobody has the right or the business to do that.”

Ravichandran Ashwin opens up on not being considered for India’s Test captaincy role
When Virat Kohli stepped down as Test captain, Rohit Sharma took over. Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravichandran Ashwin were all beaten by Rohit. Being labeled as an overthinker, according to the 36-year-old, has worked against him, as has the fact that some seasoned cricketers predicted he would struggle to find a position in the playing XI in overseas Tests, which did not assist his cause when India’s Test leadership post was being selected.
“Wasn’t it designed to work against me? And, as I previously stated, there have been assertions made all along when leadership questions have been posed to me; there have been people out there telling me that my name is not the first name on the list when, in fact, it is.
I have no influence over whether or not that name appears first on the sheet. If I earned it, it has to be there, in my opinion. As I previously stated, I have no complaints and no time to sit back and fling punches or express remorse. “I don’t have any regrets about anyone,” he stated.
Ashwin is currently with the Dindigul Dragons in the Tamil Nadu Premier League. India will play two Tests against the West Indies in the Caribbean in July, with Ashwin hoping to add to his 474 Test wickets.
