Ashwin anna’s minor matter has put TNPL on the map: Aakash Chopra. Aakash Chopra provided his distinct perspective on Ravichandran Ashwin’s decision to query the third umpire’s decision.l.
Ravichandran Ashwin is the current Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) captain of the Dindigul Dragons. The Dragons failed to make the playoffs last season, finishing sixth with only two victories in seven games. Ashwin’s men got off to a fast start in the TNPL 2023, defeating Ba11sy Trichy in their first game.
Consequently, Ravichandran Ashwin wasn’t happy with the call and he immediately signalled for another review. Interestingly enough, the commentator believes that it helped the TNPL garner attention globally.
“Ashwin anna’s small matter has brought TNPL to the world map. He was bowling very well, had picked up a wicket, and there was an appeal for another wicket where the umpire gave it out,” Chopra said on his YouTube channel.
“Ashwin and everyone were pleased, but the batter requested a review.” The third umpire was excellent. He followed the protocol, examined all angles, and determined that the ball had not touched the bat when the spike occurred due to the bat striking the ground. “Well done, he umpired very well and said it wasn’t out,” he added.
On the replays, there was a spike before the ball ever got close to the bat. There was also a spike after the ball passed the bat.

I feel when the TNPL officials look back, they will say that this option was not available: Aakash Chopra
Aakash Chopra expressed his amusement after witnessing the on-field umpire enabling Ravichandran Ashwin to appeal the decision.
“Ashwin stated that he wanted to go over it again. It happened while he was reviewing a review. It is beyond my comprehension. “I believe that when TNPL officials look back, they will say that this option was not available,” said the former Indian opener.
