IPL 2023: Ground staff at Narendra Modi Stadium take cover beneath an umbrella as heavy rain stops play. Due to the persistent rain on May 28, the CSK vs GT final has been delayed to the reserve day.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 final between Chennai Super Kings and defending champions Gujarat Titans has been postponed due to continuous rain on Sunday, May 28 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
While it continued to rain severely at regular intervals. The venue’s ground staff did an excellent job of drying the outfield whenever the rain stopped. During the evening, a group of ground personnel was seen taking shelter under an umbrella while attempting to complete their work on the field.
The heavy rain was so intense that the match officials couldn’t even complete the coin toss. The final match between the defending champion Gujarat Titans and the four-time winner Chennai Super Kings has been rescheduled for Monday, May 29.

Summit clash between two top sides
Gujarat and Chennai have both been outstanding during the IPL 2023 season. While the Hardik Pandya-led team concluded the season with 20 points, the MS Dhoni-led Chennai team finished second on the leaderboard.
Chennai supporters were similarly disappointed on May 28 when batter Ambati Rayudu announced his retirement from the IPL following the 16th edition’s final.
Rayudu made the announcement on Twitter, writing, “2 great teams mi nd csk,204 matches,14 seasons,11 playoffs,8 finals,5 trophies.”Tonight should be the sixth. It’s been a long road.I’ve determine that tonight’s final will be my final game in the Ipl. I had a great time competing in this fantastic tournament.Thank you very much. “There will be no U-turn.”
Both teams will once again gear up for a battle on Monday and if the Rain Gods permit. The fans of the T20 extravaganza will get to see an incredible final. If the rain plays spoilsport yet again and the match gets wash out then Hardik’s Titans will be crown as champions as they had finish the league stage on top of the table.
