Former Pakistan cricketer slams Babar Azam. According to Kamran Akmal, it is not fair to include someone in the ODI squad only because they did not play well in T20Is.
Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Kamran Akmal has expressed his discontent with the treatment of his brother Umar Akmal by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). As Umar left out of Pakistan’s ODI team against New Zealand, Kamran criticised Pakistan skipper Babar Azam. He advised Babar to put his personal objectives aside and concentrate on the national team.
The former cricketer accused Babar of putting his interests ahead of national selection. Especially because Umar is being ignore for ODI squad selection. He particularly concern about players being shift between formats base on friendship rather than competence.
“Set aside your own ambitions; forming a team should be about putting Pakistan first, not about your personal goals or preferences. It’s troubling to see players moved between forms based on connections rather than performance. We can’t afford to play musical chairs with squad selection “According to Cricket Pakistan, Kamran stated.

Kamran went on to suggest that players in the ODI squad should not be disregarded because of their T20I performances.
The 41-year-old said. ” If the selection is done in this manner. It feels like a game of musical chairs, and it’s not fair to the squad or the players.”
“Team selection should not be based exclusively on the board relationships of players shifting between formats. It is not acceptable to select someone in the ODI team just because they did not play well in the T20I. This appears to be a musical chairs game, and it is not fair to the team or the players “He went on to say.
He went on to suggest that Umar is deserving of a berth on Pakistan’s national team. He further alleged that the board is not treating him fairly and that the team captain, not only the Pakistan selection committee, should take this into account.
Meanwhile, Babar Azam has returned to the national side as captain and will lead the Green Brigade in the upcoming home T20I and ODI series against New Zealand.
