rcb vs kkr online cricket bettingRCB, RR, and KKR don’t have to do much, they will just do bit of window shopping: Aakash Chopra
One of the most anticipated events of the Indian cricket calendar is just a few hours away as the country waits eagerly for the IPL 2023 auction set to be held in the port city of Kochi on December 23. While all the participating teams are looking to bolster their squad for the upcoming edition of the cash-rich league, former Indian opener Aakash Chopra reckoned teams like RCB, KKR and RR will settle for just a bit of ‘window shopping’ in the upcoming auction.
Last year’s losing finalists, Rajasthan Royals, are heading into the auction with a purse value of INR 13.2 crore, while the Royal Challengers Bangalore, chasing their maiden IPL title, will take part in the auction with a meager INR 8.75 crore in their kitty.
However, things are dire for the two-time IPL winners Kolkata Knight Riders, who have the least purse value for the auction among all the franchises with a need for several players after releasing a fair few in the drafts earlier this year. Aakash Chopra feels that the aforementioned three teams will be looking at cheap buys as they don’t have the budget to land any big names this time around.
“RCB, RR, and KKR don’t have to do much shopping. They will just do a bit of window shopping and even if they wish to buy someone, they can’t because they just don’t have the budget,” Chopra said on his YouTube channel
Meanwhile, the ex-cricketer also quirked that all-rounders are going to be the big gainers in this year’s auction, with some big names like Ben Stokes, Sam Curran, and Cameron Green likely to trigger a bidding war in Kochi. Green, who has impressed with his all-round abilities in his nascent international career so far, is likely to break a few records in the auction this year.
“Other teams will probably splurge huge sums while filling bigger holes, but I feel all-rounders are going to have a field day in the auction,” he added.

Royal Challengers Bangalore will look to keep up their 100% record in this year’s tournament as they take on Kolkata Knight Riders in Chennai. RCB have already seen off current holders Mumbai Indians and bottom of the table Sunrisers Hyderabad, next up is Eoin Morgan’s KKR. Kolkata have played the same two teams and won their first game against Sunrisers Hyderabad but came up short against Mumbai Indians. Read on as we preview this clash of the 2021 IPL. The match will be played at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium and will get underway at 15:30 local time.
Both of RCB’s wins have been built on tight bowling from the unit and individual brilliance. In the first game it was Harshal Patel who delivered a fantastic final over of the Mumbai Indians’ innings in which only 1 run was scored and 4 wickets fell. Against Sunrisers Hyderabad, they looked all set for their first defeat of the campaign before Shahbaz Ahmed took the wickets of Jonny Bairstow, Manish Pandey and Abdul Samad during the 17th over and take them from 115-2 to 116-5. With the bat, the surfaces haven’t been conducive for big scores but Glenn Maxwell has already hit 98 runs, 10 runs shy of his entire total from the 2020 season.
KKR have also produced brilliance with the ball, Andre Russell following up Harshal Patel’s 5-27 against Mumbai Indians with his own 5-15 from 2 overs. However, Russell’s five wickets didn’t produce a victory. The win against Sunrisers Hyderabad saw Prasidh Krishna take the leading role with 2-35. With the bat, 137 of KKR’s 329 runs so far in the tournament have been scored by Nitish Rana. Rahul Tripathi’s 29-ball 53 is the only other individual score above 50 for Eoin Morgan’s team.
RCB will now have Adam Zampa and Kane Richardson available after completing their quarantine periods. KKR are yet to use the pace of Lockie Ferguson but are perhaps saving him for more conducive pitches later on in the tournament.
Although they have won both games so far, neither of RCB’s wins have been by a particularly big margin. However, getting over the line is all that is important in IPL cricket and you can not argue with two wins from two. The positive for Virat Kohli’s team is that there is still plenty of improvement still to come and with Adam Zampa and Kane Richardson now in the group, they have a rich squad of players to select from.
KKR should really be coming into this game with a 100% record of their own after throwing away a position of dominance against Mumbai Indians. Their openers put on 72 in 8.5 overs before the remaining 6 wickets contributed 70 runs from 11.1. Once their lower middle order begin to fire then KKR will really start to show what they are capable of.
TV channels: The match can be watched live on Star Sports in India, Sky Cricket in the UK and Willow TV in the USA
Live Streaming: Fans in India can stream the match on Disney+ Hotstar.
The captains like to chase and we don’t envisage either Virat Kohli or Eoin Morgan changing the habit of all the skippers in the tournament so far.
Tough to bat on with most players struggling to read the pace of the wicket. We again expect a relatively low scoring game with spin and pace-off bowling to come to the fore.
