Alice Capsey hit an undefeated 80 off 52 balls to propel Melbourne Stars to a Women’s Big Bash League victory against Hobart Hurricanes (WBBL).
Capsey, 18, struck five sixes. Particularly two in the last over when her team required 18 from 11 balls to win. She spearheaded the Stars’ comeback from a 19-2 deficit. After fellow English competitors Lauren Winfield-Hill as well as Bess Heath were knock out early. Capsey batted at three and ensured they accomplished their goal of 131 to five balls in remain.

Sutherland also supported Capsey with the bat, scoring 25, but quick wickets from Molly Strano halted the Stars’ chase.
Stars were 68-4 and 110-6 but Capsey provided a reminder of why she is one of the women’s game’s most exciting young talents with an innings of maturity and fearlessness.
Hurricanes are third in the WBBL table and Stars sixth, with a slim chance of qualifying for the knockout stages.
