Afghanistan has named a 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup in 2022. The T20 World Cup will be held in Australia from October 16 to November 13.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) announced a 15-member squad. For the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2022 on Thursday, September 15. Mohammad Nabi will lead the team, and there are a few notable changes from the squad that competed in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2022.
Darwish Rasooli, a right-arm off-break bowler who made his T20I debut earlier this year. Has only played four T20Is, name to the main squad. Qais Ahmed, another spinner who is new to the international setup, has been name to the squad. The right-arm leg break bowler, who has only played two T20Is for Afghanistan so far, has made an impression.
20-year-old Salim Safi, who is yet to make his international debut. Earned a callup and is a part of the 15-member roaster. Afsar Zazai, Sharafuddin Ashraf, Gulbadin Naib and Rahmat Shah will travel with the team as reserve players. Notably, Karim Janat, Samiullah Shinwari, Noor Ahmad, and Hashmatullah Shahidi. Who seen with the team during the Asia Cup 2022, have missed out on the flight to the marquee event.

Afghanistan last seen in 2022 during the Asia Cup.
They had an exciting start to their campaign, but it quickly turned into a nightmare. After winning two straight games in the group stage and cruising into the Super Four stage, Afghanistan lost all three of their games against Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and India, effectively ending their chances of winning the title.
However, the team put in some strong performances throughout the season. Mohammad Nabi led a team that was much more inexperienced than a couple of other teams in the tournament in the first two games. The players will now look to start fresh, forgetting about their disappointing Asia Cup campaign, and focusing on the global event.
