Indian cricket has progressed to the point where there are no shortages of talented young players on the rise. The recently concluded ODI series against the West Indies was a prime example of this. Prithvi Shaw’s name is the only one that has vanished from the pool of young people in India. Many people were surprised by his departure from the team, including former India fielding coach R Sridhar.
Shaw, who was once regarded as Indian cricket’s next big thing, has faded from view since his debut international match in 2018. Shaw has fallen down the rankings as a result of his poor form, controversy, and fitness issues, and he is unable to make India’s second squad.
“It’s something we’re all curious about. A batter who makes bowlers look ridiculous. He’s fantastic on the wing. He has excellent ball handling skills. “You can bowl any length to him, and he can put it away in the gap and stuff like that,” Sridhar responded on Cricket.com.

The reason Prithvi Shaw has fallen down the pecking order is due, first and foremost, to his fitness: Sridhar
Shaw has not played for India in over a year, with his most recent appearance coming in a Twenty20 International against Sri Lanka in July 2021. He has struggled to find a spot in India’s lineups since then. Shaw captained Mumbai and led them to the Ranji Trophy final this year, but his efforts fell short of expectations. He scored 355 runs in six games, averaging 35.5 runs per game and hitting three half-centuries. Two factors, according to Sridhar, contributed to Shaw’s failure.
“The reason he’s fallen down the pecking order is, first and foremost, his fitness.” I’m not sure why he’s not getting into these squads. He started off well in the IPL, but as the tournament progressed, his performances deteriorated a little bit, if I may say so. Perhaps we are being too harsh on the child. We must give him time. He is obviously young, and he needs to get his work ethics in order,” he added.
