Deepak Chahar repurchase by the defending champions CSK at the IPL 2022 mega auction in February for a whopping INR 14 crore. Unfortunately for them, he tore his quadriceps during the home T20I series against the West Indies in the same month, forcing him to miss the first few games of the season as he recovered at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
While he recuperating, the bowling all-rounder suffer a back injury, which force him to withdraw from the tournament. Deepak Chahar will not play in the IPL 2022, but the question is whether he will receive his entire INR 14 crore salary for the 15th edition of the marquee tournament. If there is a backup option with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in such unforeseen situations.

Deepak Chahar is likely to receive the full amount of his contract.
Deepak Chahar is a BCCI centrally contract player. He is in the Grade C category on the national cricket board’s 2022 central contracts list, which means he will be paid his entire salary for this season’s IPL despite not playing in a single game due to injury. For its contract players, the BCCI has a players’ insurance policy, and the board pays them through that policy if they miss an IPL season due to injury. This rule went into effect with the 2011 IPL season.
If a non-contract player is injure and does not play even one game during the season, he forfeits the entire contract amount for the season. According to the policy, all centrally contract players are compensate if they miss the IPL season, regardless of when they were injure. If a contract player is injure and rule out during the IPL, the BCCI pays half of the contracted amount, while the franchise pays the other half.
