Sanju Samson received some crucial wicketkeeping training from Kumar Sangakkara; ahead of Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) IPL 2022 season opener against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH). On Tuesday, RR will meet SRH at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune; with Samson seeking to make the playoffs. Rajasthan shared a video of the training session on social media, which included Lasith Malinga watching on.
Sangakkara is currently the Director of Cricket at RR and is involved on the franchise’s social media platforms.
Sangakkara, a renowned Sri Lankan captain, played in 134 Tests for his country; and scored 12,400 and 14,234 runs in 404 One-Day Internationals. The wicketkeeper-batsman also appeared in 56 Twenty20 Internationals, scoring 1,382 runs.
Sangakkara scored 1,687 runs in 71 games for Punjab Kings (later Kings XI Punjab); Deccan Chargers, and SRH during his IPL tenure.

After finishing ninth last season, RR skipper Samson will be hoping for a stronger performance this season.
He scored 484 runs in 14 games for IPL 2021, with a top score of 119 runs. In his IPL career, he has scored 3,068 runs in 121 matches.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK); by six wickets in the first match of IPL 2022 on March 26.

Delhi Capitals (DC) are currently in first place on the standings; with four matches completed, followed by PBKS in second place. The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are in third place, while the Gujarat Titans (GT) are in fourth.
