The upcoming T20I series between India Women and Bangladesh Women, which begins on April 28th at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, has a conspicuous omission in the officiating lineup. Umpire Tanveer Ahmed will not officiate in the forthcoming series in an effort to prevent any problems.
Ahmed involve in an unpleasant incident during the two teams’ ODI series earlier this year. Which sparked tensions with the Indian players. Ahmed and Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur clashed during the 2023 ODI series against Bangladesh.
In the final ODI, Ahmed raised his finger to dismiss Kaur LBW, prompting the Indian captain to knock down the stumps in frustration and engage in a heated argument with the umpire. Kaur later given a two-game suspension for her actions, and she also mock the Bangladeshi players with a taunt aim at the umpire.

Tanveer does not appear on the list of match officials: Iftikhar Ahmed Mithu
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has decided to remove Ahmed from the T20I umpiring panel in order to avoid any potential targeting or backlash from Indian players.
“If he include in the upcoming home series against India women’s team. There is a possibility that he will again be on the receiving end because Indian women cricketers may target him. Which we do not want to happen, so we decided not to include him in the series involving Bangladesh and India women’s team. ” A BCB official said, as quoted by Cricbuzz.
The BCB’s umpire’s committee chairman, Iftekhar Ahmed Mithu, explained the decision. “Tanveer is not included in the list of match officials for the home series against India women’s team. As we want him to be involved in the home series against Zimbabwe and both the series will be played side by side. ” He said.
The BCCI announced the squad for the series on April 15th, with some notable additions to the team. Harmanpreet will lead the squad, with Smriti Mandhana as her deputy. Asha Sobhana and Sajana Sajeevan received their first national call-ups. Shreyanka Patil, the highest wicket-taker in WPL 2024, is also part of the squad.
