The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 schedule appears to be a source of ongoing speculation. As the T20 spectacular is schedule to coincide with the country’s Lok Sabha elections. According to sources, the cash-rich competition is slate to begin on March 22. Although the tournament’s host has yet to be determine.
Despite the speculation, IPL chairman Arun Singh Dhumal has confirmed that the tournament will take place in India, and that the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) will consult with the government before finalizing the schedule. He also state that the schedule for the 17th edition of the tournament would be announce immediately after the general election timetable release.
“We will coordinate with the Indian government and agencies to ensure that the league takes place in India. We are waiting for the general election timetable to be reveal, and then we will arrange accordingly…for example, which state would host which game during the election,” Arun Dhumal told the Times of India.
Moving forward, Dhamal did not specify the date of the tournament’s start, but did say that it will most likely begin in late March.
“It (IPL) will most likely start from March end… and general elections are in April, so we will work it out with the help of the government,” he told reporters.

IPL 2024 will feature 74 matches
A total of 74 matches set to play in IPL 2024 including the four plays offs. The tournament is expect to be spread across two phases due to the general elections in the country. CSK seen defending their title in the upcoming edition as they won their fifth trophy in 2023 defeating Gujarat Titans in a thrilling final.
The forthcoming season is also believe to be the last for CSK captain MS Dhoni. Who will want to leave the competition on a high note by leading his team to a record sixth triumph in the upcoming edition.
