PKSV Sagar, a prominent official from Delhi Capitals (DC), offered a big update on Rishabh Pant, revealing that the wicketkeeper-batsman will play in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL). The youngster has been out of action since December 2022, following a near-fatal vehicle accident. He has made a miraculous recovery following surgery. Since joining DC in 2016, Pant has scored 2,838 runs in 98 matches, with an average of 34.61 and a strike rate of more than 147, including a century and 15 fifties.

Pant previously visited DC’s camp in Kolkata in November, along with support staff such as director of cricket Sourav Ganguly, head coach Ricky, and assistant coach Pravin Amre. The 26-year-old then became involved in discussions about the retention and release of mini-auction players. Sagar noted that the squad is hoping for Pant’s comeback, which would have a significant impact on them in the upcoming season.

“Yes, we anticipate him to play his best this season. He is the biggest player, and if he plays, it will benefit us. Our coaches and physiotherapists are working with him, and the wonderful news is that he is recovering extremely well. We think he’ll be fit and ready to play by March,” Sagar told NDTV on the sidelines of the ILT20 2024.
