The Mumbai Indians made an unexpected move ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction by drafting Hardik Pandya from the Gujarat Titans. The Baroda all-rounder was subsequently name captain of the team, succeeding Rohit Sharma, who led Mumbai to five IPL titles. “Shubman Gill will gain experience and may eventually play for another franchise. “You can’t stop anyone; it’s part of the game,” he added.

Shami is currently recovering from an ankle injury. He miss the Test series against South Africa and has not been pick to the squad for the first two home Tests against England. The veteran hopes to be healthy for the next three Tests of the five-match series.
