In the viral video, Sreesanth can be heard saying “how can he say fixer?”
Notably, Sreesanth was given a life ban by the BCCI for his role in the IPL 2013 spot-fixing controversy. However, in 2019, the Supreme Court lowered it to seven years, and the 40-year-old also returned to the domestic circuit once his suspension expired.
Sreesanth addressed Gambhir as ‘Mr Fighter’ in another video uploaded shortly after the match, accusing him of insulting even his veteran players like Virender Sehwag. His wife, Bhuvneshwari, has also come out in support of her husband, calling Gambhir’s behavior’shocking’ for descending to this level despite playing for India alongside Sreesanth for many years.
Meanwhile, Gambhir has remained mute in the midst of the storm and posted a photo of himself smiling while wearing the Indian shirt. ‘Smile when the world is all about attention!’ he captioned the photo. Notably, the former India opener has made news for his involvement in multiple on-field brawls with opposing players during his playing days.
During IPL 2023 match 43, he also got into a disagreement with top batter Virat Kohli.
