The Men in Yellow staked their semi-final hopes on Maxwell in pursuit of a 292-run total after Afghanistan bowlers disturbed the great Australians with 91/7. The all-rounder shed blood, sweat, and tears to complete the impossible assignment for the five-time winners.

Earlier in the game, Ibrahim Zadran’s 129* off 143 helped Afghanistan score a 291-run total as they looked to keep their semi-final chances alive. After losing by three wickets, Afghanistan is in sixth place on the World Cup points table and will like to shift the last game’s result in their favor.
