Bangladesh tarnish their semi-final hopes
The Shakib Al Hasan-led team has produced a number of outstanding individual performances. Mahmudullah, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Shoriful Islam, and Mustafizur Rahman are among the noteworthy names. However, this hasn’t helped the team secure a place in the tournament’s knockout rounds. As they have already been eliminated after six consecutive losses in seven games.
The team is now seventh in the points standings and has no chance of advancing to the semi-finals. As a result, their next two games are essentially meaningless. However, the opposition, notably Sri Lanka and Australia, are important because a victory might see them through.
