Former RCB spinner Iqbal Abdulla has announced his retirement at the age of 33. Abdulla was a member of India’s winning under-19 World Cup team in 2008.
Iqbal Abdulla, a Mumbai-based left-arm spinner, has declared his retirement from cricket at the age of 33. Abdulla was a member of India’s winning under-19 World Cup team in 2008.
Abdulla demonstrated his abilities by capturing an astounding 220 wickets at an average of 29.17 during his First-Class career. He also contributed significantly with the bat, accumulating 2641 runs at an average of 32.20. Abdulla took 131 wickets with an average of 27.47 in List A matches and scored 1196 runs with an average of 20.98. He impress in the fast-pace realm of T20 cricket, taking 86 wickets at an average of 27.33 and scoring 426 runs at an average of 17.04.

Abdulla played for the KKR, RR, and RCB in the Indian Premier League
During his tenure with the Royal Challengers Bangalore, he was led by Virat Kohli. Abdulla was a key member of Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy-winning teams in 2009-10, 2012-13, and 2015-16. He also played domestic cricket for Mizoram, Sikkim, Kerala, and Uttarakhand.
Abdulla’s spectacular innings of 33 not out off 25 balls. An undefeated 92-run partnership with AB de Villiers in the 2016 IPL playoff tie were highlights of his career. This performance contributed to Royal Challengers Bangalore’s exciting win over the Gujarat Lions.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recognized Abdulla’s abilities by designating him ‘Best All-rounder’ for the 2011-12 domestic season and ‘Rising Cricketer’ in the 2011 IPL. He was also an important member of India’s ‘A’ touring squads, and he was named ‘Man of the Series’ during India A’s tour of England in 2011.
Abdulla told the TOI, “I’m quitting this game after a successful innings, content with what I’ve achieved.” He congratulated the BCCI, the Mumbai Cricket Association, and everyone who helped him along the way. Abdulla is still open to participate in abroad T20 leagues, pending permission from the BCCI.
