Hardik Pandya ruled out of the first innings after suffering an injury against Bangladesh. Pandya hurt himself trying to stop a boundary during the ninth over of the innings.
On Thursday, October 19, India suffered a big setback in their ongoing fourth match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 when ace all-rounder Hardik Pandya injured himself in the first innings. The Indian all-rounder attempted to intercept a boundary off Litton Das’ bat on the third ball of the ninth over of the match being played at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.
He wrenched his ankle, though, and fell awkwardly on the pitch. Pandya rule out when seen in great pain as the physio rushed in to examine him and wrap his ankle. The 30-year-old was removed from the pitch because Virat Kohli needed to bowl in his stead.
According to Cricbuzz, Pandya taken for scans and will not bowl or field any further in the match. Notably, he has only batted once in the competition, against Australia, where he scored an undefeated 11* from 8 balls. With the ball, he’s been outstanding, taking five wickets in four innings at an average of 22.60 and an economy of 6.84.
Meanwhile, when Pandya ruled out from the field. Ace India batter Virat Kohli came in to deliver the final three balls of the over. The entire stadium erupted as Kohli rolled his arm over for the first time in six years in ODIs.

Tanzid Hasan scores his first ODI fifty
Returning to the action, Bangladesh got off to a flying start after deciding to bat first, with openers Tanzid Hasan and Litton Das putting on 93 runs for the first wicket off 88 balls. Hasan went on to register his maiden half-century in ODIs with a magnificent effort of 51 off 43 balls that included five fours and five sixes.
In the 15th over, Kuldeep Yadav got India’s first breakthrough when he trapped Hasan in front of the stumps. After a strong opening stand, India was able to rapidly take wickets, as Bangladesh were 138/4 after 28 overs.
