On October 16, Australia and Sri Lanka will face off in the 14th match of the ongoing ODI World Cup at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
Ahead of the match, Australia’s star batter, Steven Smith, remarked that they backed themselves into a corner after losing the first two matches of the tournament, and it’s working well for them.
“I’m not thinking too much about it, even though we’ve lost two games.” We got ourselves in a corner due to the two sides’ excellent performance. “It’s all about getting into a rhythm as soon as possible,” Smith told Star Sports.
He went on to remark that the squad hasn’t checked all the boxes yet, and that they need to correct their faults in the remaining games in order to bounce back well.

Australia were defeated by hosts India by six wickets in their first encounter in Chennai. Following a poor start, their performance in the second game against South Africa in Lucknow was subpar. The five-time champions are currently without a win in the ten-team league.
